Mayco translucent glazes were designed to have a hint of color with one coat and a deeper color with two to three coats. One coat will allow more of the clay body to show through the glaze. Forms a clear-to-milky white gloss surface - one coat produces thr clearest finish; subsequent layering increases the incidence of a white precipitate forming. Prominent white to bluish-white colors will emerge where the glaze pools and gathers around surface texture.

Produces a desert rose pink that ranges from semi-translucent to fully opaque, depending on application thickness. Thin applications yield a clear glaze with hints of pink precipitate; heavier applications will create an opaque purple-pink gloss finish that can also form a whitish cast in select areas.

OPEN TO SEE WASHES AT CONE 06, 6, AND 10. Washes are a multi-purpose product with limitless possibilities. Washes can be used alone or with any glaze from low fire (cone 06/05), mid-range (cone 5/6), and up to high-fire (cone 10). They are primarily used painted into textured areas and wiped away on the higher surface to accentuate the texture. It works great for stenciling, stamping and silkscreening as it is a very stable product. When using in combination, apply a transparent and stable glaze such as a celadon or clear glaze to ensure stability in performance and maintaining details. Can be layered with other glazes to promote interactions and does not add much movement to combinations. Iron Wash also works great as a body stain. Applying clear glaze can lessen the appearance of staining.

Mayco Flux is a flowing glaze intended for use with other Mayco Stoneware glazes to enhance movement and promote reactions for interesting effects. Apply over or under other glazes, uniformly brushed or randomly dabble on with a sponge. Designed to fire to cone 5/6; can be fired to cone 9/10 in oxidation or reduction firings.
