#2 Detail. BRUSH MAINTENANCE: The main factor in keeping brushes in workable condition is that colors be completely removed from all parts of the brush after each painting session. If colors are inadvertently left to dry in a brush, a solid mass will form in the heel (near the ferrule), redendering it unusable. If this happens, it would be better to discard the brush than suffer the aggravation of hairs that spread and work improperly.
